We breed well-grown yearling bulls with a focus on docility, below-breed-average birth weights, and high calving ease, while also producing productive daughters and maintaining strong herd growth. All bulls are fertility tested.
About Us
Sarona Herefords is a family-owned and operated registered Hereford stud with 120 registered cows and Heifer replacements farmed on 80 hectares of rolling to steep country in the Bay of Plenty, producing bulls suitable for both dairy and beef operations.
Matt focuses on breeding low- to moderate-birthweight yearling bulls with high calving ease, negative gestation, excellent carcass quality, strong growth, a quiet temperament, and well-marked, fertility-tested traits. We DNA snip-test all calves for genetic testing and parent verification to make the EBV's more accurate.
Matt has managed to shorten the calving window to six weeks, calving from early July. Sarona welcomes bull-viewing anytime, with bulls on the market through a private treaty from September onwards.
